About Primrose Cottage
Nestled in Roswell's historic district, Primrose Cottage regally resides among ancient oaks and terraced gardens. Built in 1839 by Roswell King, the city's founder, it is the town's oldest permanent home. In such a serene setting, it is hard to believe that Primrose Cottage is just minutes away from Atlanta's major thoroughfares and international airport making this unique venue easily accessible.
Although listed on the National Register of Historic Places, privately owned Primrose Cottage is without the restrictions imposed on so many historic properties. During an event, guests enjoy the antebellum mansion exclusively including three acres of alluring gardens accentuated with subtle lighting, brick terraces, charming fountains, and arbors.
Inside the three level home with its delightful double veranda overlooking the back courtyard, gracious sitting rooms on the main floor entice guests to linger and savor the moment. A large, open hall connecting the rooms allows an easy flow not found in many historic homes.
For the bride, a grand bridal suite offers a private retreat where she and her attendants dress, giggle and share a remarkable moment in time. Here, the bride enjoys a pre-event appetizer tray with her girls and later a post-ceremony "sweetheart" meal with her groom. On the terrace level away from all the activity, the groom and his merry men find a quiet place perhaps for a friendly toast.
The latest addition to Primrose Cottage, the Overlook Ballroom, offers 2800 square feet of event space complimented with hardwood floors, a grand view of the ever-changing gardens, specialty mood lighting, and a custom designed ceremony niche for indoor weddings. Set between the main house and the Ballroom, the quaint Garden Room creates an easy transition from inside to out, both physically and visually, with its windowed walls and French doors leading to secret terraces and meandering garden pathways.
Whether a grand ceremony on the expansive front lawn, an intimate gathering on the garden terrace, or a private celebration in the elegant Ballroom, Primrose Cottage is all about choices - your choices.
